Types of Activity

It is very important to remember always try to find a logical or natural explanation for the types of activity that may be occurring at your location. Try not to jump to conclusions. Chances are every pop, crack or odd sound is not paranormal activity. Things you may experience with a typical haunting include (but are not limited to) the following:

UNEXPLAINED NOISES

Footsteps, knocks, banging, rapping, scratching, sounds of something being dropped. Sometimes these noises can be very subtle and barely noticeable and other times they can be quite loud.

THINGS MOVE ON THEIR OWN

Doors, cabinets, cupboards opening and closing. Most of the time, these phenomena are not seen directly. The person either hears the distinct sounds of the doors opening and closing or the person will return to a room to find a door open or closed when they are certain that it was left in the opposite position. Sometimes furniture, like kitchen chairs, appears to have been moved. Rarely will the person actually witness the phenomenon taking place?

ITEMS TURNING ON AND OFF AGAIN

Lights turning on and off, kitchen faucets, showers, bathtubs and again these events are seldom seen actually occurring, but the lights are switched on or off or the water faucets running when the individual knows they were not left that way. This can also happen with TVs, radios and other electrically powered items.

ITEMS DISAPPEARING AND REAPPEARING

Sometimes left in the same place where you last put them and other times in a different room or location. Also, on some occasions, the item wasn’t returned for days or even weeks, but when they are, it's in an obvious place in which you could not have missed by even a casual search.

UNEXPLAINED SHADOWS

The sighting of fleeting shapes and shadows, usually only seen out of the corner of the eye. Many times having an undefined human form and at other times a misshapen mass or even cloud-like. Sometimes appearing in a well-defined human shape while other times less distinguishable or even a smaller form. This phenomenon is known as Shadow People.

MUFFLED VOICES, CRIES AND WHISPERS

Muffled voices, whispering, and crying can be heard. Sometimes you may hear music from some unknown source. People hear their names being called. This phenomenon, as is true for all the rest, gains more credibility if more than one person hears or sees the same thing at the same time.

UNEXPLAINED SMELLS

The distinct fragrance of a perfume or cologne that you do not have in your home or have never worn. The smell of cigarette or cigar smoke when no one in your household smokes. Sometimes this phenomenon comes and goes without any apparent cause or reason.

COLD OR HOT SPOTS

Cold spots are a classic haunting indication, but any instance of a noticeable variance in temperature without a reasonable cause could be evidence.

FEELINGS OF BEING WATCHED

This is not an uncommon feeling and can be attributed to many things. Your brain senses something out-of-place even though your conscious isn't registering it. But it could also have a paranormal source if the feeling consistently occurs at a particular time or in a certain part of the house.

FEELINGS OF BEING TOUCHED

The feeling of being watched is one thing, and actually feeling like you are being touched is quite another. Some people feel something brush past them, something touching their hair or a hand on the shoulder or back. Some may feel a gentle poke, push or nudge.

STRANGE ANIMAL BEHAVIOR

A dog, cat or other pet behaves oddly. Dogs may bark at something unseen, cower without apparent reason, or refuse to enter a room they normally do. Cats may seem to be watching something move across a room. Animals are more aware of their surroundings and have sharper senses than humans. Many researchers think their psychic abilities might be more finely tuned humans as well.
